Greater Western Water - a new era in water services for the west

Overview

City West Water will join with Western Water to create a new water corporation for Melbourne's west from 1 July 2021.

The new entity, Greater Western Water, will provide services to more than 580,000 customers over a 3,700 square kilometre area from Melbourne's CBD and inner-west and north-west suburbs, through the Melton and Sunbury growth corridors to Bacchus Marsh, Myrniong and Macedon Ranges townships.

Work is now underway to integrate our two organisations.

Follow this page to stay up to date with our progress and opportunities to get involved.

Why are they joining together?

City West Water and Western Water have worked together for many years to provide infrastructure and water resource solutions for our shared region.

With the population of Melbourne's west expected to double over the next 30 years, our integration will ensure we can contribute to meet the community's growing service demands and maintain reliable, affordable water services for all of our customers.

What are some of the benefits?

Greater Western Water will reduce household water bills into the future, provide new job opportunities and maintain a strong local presence through all of our existing office and field depots.

Who is City West Water?

City West Water is one of metropolitan Melbourne's water businesses.

They provide drinking water, sewerage, trade waste and recycled water services to customers in Melbourne's central business district, inner and western suburbs.

Who is Western Water?

Western Water provides water, recycled water and sewerage services to more than 80,000 properties across Bacchus Marsh, Melton, Sunbury, the Macedon Ranges and surrounding communities.

Their head office is based in Sunbury.
